A wrong photo is one of the easiest ways to have your application delayed. Take this checklist to your photo studio.

The checklist

Size 35 × 45 mm, in colour.
Recent: taken in the last 6 months.
Plain white or light background, no shadows.
Your face fills 70 to 80% of the photo, looking straight at the camera.
Neutral expression, mouth closed, eyes open and clearly visible.
No glasses if possible. If you must wear them, no tinted lenses and no glare.
Head coverings only for religious reasons, with your face fully visible from forehead to chin.
Printed on good photo paper, not cut from a larger print with uneven edges.

Most checklists ask for one or two photos. Check the list of the country you apply to, and bring a spare.
