How much does a Schengen visa cost from the UAE?
A Schengen tourist visa from the UAE costs the €90 visa fee plus a visa-centre service fee, travel insurance and your documents. Here is every cost, and which ones you can avoid.
The costs, one by one
| Cost | Amount | Paid to |
|---|---|---|
| Visa fee, adult (12+) | €90 | The embassy, usually in AED at the visa centre |
| Visa fee, child aged 6 to 11 | €45 | The embassy |
| Visa fee, child under 6 | Free | No fee |
| Visa-centre service fee | Set by each centre (France: €30.33) | VFS Global, BLS or TLScontact |
| Travel medical insurance | Depends on your age and trip length | An insurer you choose |
| Photos | A photo studio's price | Any photo studio |
| Optional extras (SMS updates, courier, premium lounge) | Optional | The visa centre |
The €90 fee has been the same in every Schengen country since 11 June 2024, and it is not refunded if your visa is refused.
Costs you can avoid
- Agent fees. Agents often charge several times the visa fee for preparing your file. You can apply yourself.
- A full flight ticket before the visa. A Flight Reservation is enough for the application.
- Paying for an appointment. Booking is free on the official visa-centre website. Never pay anyone for a slot.
- Optional extras at the visa centre, unless you really want them.
