NOC letter for a Schengen visa: format and sample
Most Schengen embassies ask UAE residents who are employed for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer. It confirms your job, your salary and that your employer agrees to your leave.
What the NOC must include
- Printed on company letterhead, signed and stamped, with a recent date.
- Your full name exactly as in your passport, nationality and passport number.
- Your job title, joining date and total monthly salary.
- The destination country and your exact leave dates, matching your flight reservation.
- A clear sentence that the company has no objection to your trip and that you will return to your job afterwards.
- The name, position and contact details of the person who signs it.

Mistakes that get files sent back
- Dates that do not match. The leave dates must match your flight reservation, hotel bookings and itinerary.
- A salary that does not match your bank statement. The visa officer compares them.
- A name spelled differently from your passport.
- An old date. Ask for the letter shortly before your appointment.
- No stamp or no signature.
Some consulates also accept a salary certificate plus approved leave instead of an NOC. Always follow the checklist of the country you apply to.
