🇭🇺 Hungary Schengen visa from the UAE: document checklist
Everything Hungary asks UAE residents to bring for a short-stay (tourist or family visit) Schengen visa, in plain English and in the official order.
Application form. Complete the free application form and sign it. Write the full hotel address on the form.
Good to know. Documents in English or Hungarian; originals required. Hungary warns that changing or cancelling a reservation after applying can lead to refusal or revocation of the visa.
The Hungary checklist
- 1Application formCompleted and signed (the form is free). For a child, both parents sign and attach passport copies and a no-objection letter.
- 2Original passport and a copyPassport and UAE residence permit valid at least 3 months after your return from Hungary, signed, 2 empty pages, issued in the last 10 years.
- 3One recent photoNo older than 6 months; men without head cover.
- 4Letter from your local sponsorDesignation, salary and start date in the UAE, or a legally translated trade licence if self-sponsored.
- 5Leave certificate from your employerAn NOC with your leave details.
- 6Hotel bookingThe full hotel or host address (name, street, building number, city and postcode) must also be written on the form.
- 7Personal bank statements, last 6 monthsOriginal and stamped by the bank. Dependents can use their sponsor’s documents.
- 8Overseas medical insuranceAll Schengen states, at least €30,000 including repatriation and evacuation.
- 9Flight ticket or reservationIncluding the return flight, with a photocopy.

- Medical insurance valid in all Schengen states for the whole stay, with at least €30,000 of cover including repatriation.
- Do I need to buy a flight ticket before applying?
- No. A flight reservation with a real, verifiable booking reference is enough. Avoid paying for a full ticket before your visa is approved.
- How do I get an appointment?
- Join the waitlist in your own account on the official visa-centre portal, enter your details exactly as in your passport, and watch your email and SMS. Nobody can guarantee a slot.
